Capsaicin is the primary bioactive alkaloid in chilli peppers and one of the most extensively researched topical analgesics in modern pharmacology. Its mechanism of action is well-characterised and supported by robust clinical evidence.

• TRPV1 receptor desensitisation: Capsaicin binds to the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channel on sensory nerve fibres, initially causing a warming sensation followed by prolonged desensitisation of pain signals. This mechanism is documented in landmark studies published in Nature and Pain journal.
• Substance P depletion: Repeated capsaicin application depletes Substance P — a key neuropeptide involved in pain transmission — from peripheral nerve endings. Research in the Journal of Neuroscience and Clinical Journal of Pain confirms this as a primary analgesic pathway for musculoskeletal conditions.
• Counterirritant & thermogenic effect: The warming sensation stimulates local blood circulation and acts as a counterirritant, overriding deeper pain signals. How to Use

1. Clean the affected area(s) with soap and water. Dry the skin thoroughly.
2. Remove the protective covering from the face of the plaster.
3. Apply to the affected area, pressing the plaster firmly on the skin.
4. Smooth out the plaster with your hand.
5. The plaster can stay on skin for 2 days and then removed. If the area is still painful, apply a new plaster.
6. Can be used until relief on pain — use as often as you want, unless prescribed otherwise.

Directions for Removal

Loosen one end and take apart in a quick jerk. If preferred, use a damp sponge or piece of cotton wool soaked in rubbing surgical alcohol/spirit; turn back one end of the plaster slightly and drop a little of rubbing alcohol/spirit between the skin and plaster to make it come off easily.
