Delicate sweetness. Comforting warmth. True Ceylon cinnamon.
Bring a gently sweet, aromatic touch to your kitchen with Ceylon Cinnamon Sticks from The Herbal Remedies Clinical Series. Whether you are brewing a warming cup of tea or simmering fruit for breakfast, a cinnamon stick adds depth and fragrance without overpowering the dish.
Why choose Ceylon cinnamon?
- Versatile flavour: add warm cinnamon notes to hot drinks, porridge, stewed fruit and slow-cooked dishes.
- Aromatic plant compounds: Ceylon cinnamon contains cinnamaldehyde and plant polyphenols, which have been investigated in laboratory research.
- Naturally lower in coumarin: Ceylon cinnamon typically contains less coumarin than cassia cinnamon, although amounts vary between products.
- A size to suit your kitchen: available in 25g, 50g and 100g options.
Ceylon cinnamon and clinical research
Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum, also called Cinnamomum zeylanicum) has been studied in human clinical trials, with particular interest in glucose metabolism.
A 2025 randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 150 adults tested 1,000 mg of standardised Ceylon cinnamon extract daily for 12 weeks. Researchers found an improvement in fasting blood glucose compared with placebo, but no statistically significant improvement in LDL cholesterol. Read the study in PLOS ONE.
A separate 2025 randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial enrolled 210 adults with type 2 diabetes and studied 250 mg or 500 mg of Ceylon cinnamon extract over four months. Researchers reported improvements in measures of glucose control; cholesterol findings across the two trials were mixed. Read the clinical trial.
These trials studied measured doses of cinnamon extracts, not culinary cinnamon sticks or cinnamon tea. They do not establish an equivalent effect from using these sticks in food or drinks.
How to enjoy
Infuse a stick in hot water or tea, or add it while cooking porridge, stewed fruit or slow-cooked dishes. Remove the stick before serving. Picture a gently simmering pan of apples, fragrant with cinnamon, ready to spoon over your morning breakfast.
Storage and care
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Cinnamon is not a substitute for prescribed treatment. If you take diabetes medication and plan to use cinnamon regularly in supplement-level quantities, speak with your clinician first.
